Maverick striker Mario Balotelli appears set for a
return to AC Milan after an unconvincing season at Liverpool, Italian
media reported Monday.
"Talks are ongoing with Liverpool to have him back on loan," Milan
director general Adriano Galliani was quoted as saying. "There is not
yet an agreement with the English about how much of the salary we are
to cover.
"Should he really return with us, it is really his very last chance.
He wants to, we will see."
The 25-year-old arrived at the Rossoneri from Manchester City in the
second half of the 2012-13 season and stayed on for the next
campaign, scoring 30 goals from 54 games.
But Balotelli has netted only four from 28 appearances in his
lacklustre stint with Liverpool, who paid Milan 20 million euros (23
million dollars) for him in 2014. He joined Liverpool on a three-year
deal with a reported salary of 5.5 million euros per year.
Balotelli, who was born in Italy to parents from Ghana and adopted by
an Italian family, has appeared 33 times with the Italian national
squad, scoring 13 goals.
He has often made the news for his unruly behaviour on and off the
pitch and for being the target of racial abuse.
