Eduardo Villegas was appointed Thursday as coach of
the Bolivian national football team, officials said.
Marco Ortega, the new president of the Bolivian Football
Federation (FBF), announced the appointment of Villegas, 51,
currently the coach at Bolivar.
The FBF has been immersed in a crisis since its president, Carlos
Chavez, and three other officials were arrested for alleged
corruption, prompting the resignation of Bolivia's coach at the time,
Mauricio Soria.
Bolivia are set to play World Cup runners-up Argentina on September 4
in Houston, Texas.
The main challenge at hand for Villegas is set to be the South
American qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, which start in October.
Bolivia have not played the World Cup since 1994.
