Jamaica's Usain Bolt poses with his gold medal on the podium after winning the men's 100m final during the Beijing 2015
Wellesley Bolt, Usain Bolt's father, praised his son
Monday as he danced, shouted and generally celebrated along the
corridors of the Bird's Nest stadium a day after the sprinter's
latest 100 metres world championship triumph.
"He is the best athlete of all time, and he will remain the best
athlete of all time," he said.
Olympic champion Bolt won the big race in 9.79 seconds, beating
former drugs cheat Justin Gatlin by barely one hundredth of a second,
but a stumble in the semi-finals almost cost the Jamaican a berth in
the final.
"I was worried after the semi-finals and I was not sure of what might
happen," said Wellesley Bolt, a tall man with a broad smile just like
his son.
"But we all know Usain, he is a stubborn person and he never gives
up," the elder Bolt said. "It was very difficult, particularly after
the semi-finals."
