Madrid (dpa) - Spanish cup winners Sevilla announced Tuesday that Antonio Alvarez will continue as coach next season. Alvarez took over as caretaker coach in March after the sacking of Manolo Jimenez. He took the southerners to fourth place in La Liga - and a place in the preliminary round of the Champions League - then guided them to a 2-0 cup final triumph over Atletico Madrid. Alvarez, 55, was an accomplished defender for Sevilla from 1975 to 1988, then wound down his career with Malaga and Granada. dpa ds aw Author: Duncan Shaw | |||||
