Germany's goalkeeper Manuel Neuer
Mario Goetze is already planning his return
from a torn adductor muscle which will likely sideline him for the
rest of the year, his Germany and Bayern Munich team-mate Manuel
Neuer said on Saturday.
"Of course you are downcast at first because he is aware what he
faces. (But) He is a pro and has already set up a plan how to
return," the goalkeeper Neuer told a news conference ahead of
Germany's final Euro 2016 qualifier against Georgia.
Goetze was substituted in the first half of Germany's 1-0 defeat in
Ireland on Thursday after being injured in a seemingly innocuous
clash with an opponent.
The Bundesliga leaders Munich announced the nature of the injury on
Friday.
Germany coach Joachim Loew said that Goetze would likely not return
before the winter break which starts on December 20.
"We were all shocked by Mario's severe injury. It is a pity because
Mario had good form after a a few frustrating weeks, not only with us
but at Bayern as well," Loew said.
Apart from the next Germany and Bundesliga games, the 23-year-old
will miss Bayern's German Cup second round clash with Wolfsburg in
addition to their final four Champions League group matches. Goetze
has scored four goals for Bayern this season in 12 competitive games.
