Roma
market manager Daniele Prade was scheduled to leave Tuesday for Brazil
to wrap up the transfer of striker Adriano from Flamengo, Italian media
reported. The 28-year-old former player of Inter Milan, Parma and Fiorentina appears to be set on returning to Italy, but Roma are unwilling to fulfil his request for a contract worth 4 million euros (4.9 million dollars) per season. The Serie A side closed the season in second place, going down to the wire with champions Inter Milan, and look to beef up their ranks after the likely departure of Luca Toni, who was on loan from Bayern Munich. Beside the negotiations with Adriano's agent, Gilmar Rinaldi, Prade's trip is said to have investigative aspects, as the striker's life-style has often been far from professional. He had alcohol problems while in Italy and is said to often have missed training sessions since joining Flamengo in 2009. Adriano helped the side from his native Rio de Janeiro win the national title by scoring 19 goals. But he was left out of the Brazilian squad for next month's World Cup in South Africa. | |||||
