Dutch Formula One driver Max Verstappen can finally
drive a car on a regular road as he passed his driving licence on his
18th birthday Wednesday.
"It's great to be 18 and to have a driving license", he said on his
website.
"That I'm finally allowed on the road on my own gives me more
independence, which is great! I have to say it's a relief to pass the
test. I was a bit nervous to make mistakes, but the exam went well."
Verstappen had no problem passing the test although had his first
lesson last week Monday and just five hours with an instructor, the
report said. However, being based in Belgium he was allowed to drive
under supervision since passing the theory test in January.
Verstappen is the youngest ever F1 driver and in his debut season at
the Toro Rosso team and ranked 11th on 32 points highlighted by a
fourth-place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
His entry in the sport at such young age caused quite a stir, and
under new rules from the governing body FIA F1 drivers must from now
on have a regular driving licence before entering the sport.
